3. More Than Profit Network – relationships, discussions … excellent, delicious! The More Than Profit network development workshop at The Claremont on Thursday 18th June was an inspiring and energising evening. The
event, with its focus on relationship building between social
enterprise and the private sector, was the final of three consultations
designed to influence how the network will take shape. Following a series of enlightening case study presentations, the discussion groups came up with a selection of valuable and vibrant ideas that explored the benefits and challenges of working together, as well as the all important ideas for creating a network that works for all. Participants said they enjoyed…: ‘Making links with people that could develop into business relationships’ ‘Group discussions - excellent for "forced" networking - really promotes good conversations’ ‘Cous cous = delicious, New people = delicious, Potential business = delicious’ Impact: the person, the business, the social enterprise The first case study was presented by BCP’s Business Action on Homelessness (BAOH). Bunty Dann, Director of BAOH addressed the network, and presentations were also given by Peter Molyneux (Royal Mail) and
David Eve, a current BAOH client. They spoke about the project from the
different perspectives of a participating business and a participant of
the Work Placement Programme. A
further 4 case studies acted as inspiration for the discussion groups;
Nourish, The Big Lemon, Emmaus and The Working Together Project. Wed 1st of July 3-6pm & Wed 5th August 4-7pm This
session is designed for aspiring and existing social enterprises that
need a bit of time and space to talk things through with social
enterprise experts. This is a practical and supportive exchange
designed to help your ideas ‘happen’.
BCP, with its Brighton
& Hove Social Enterprise Strategy, has gained the support of social
entrepreneurs to hold these regular supportive sessions. These are
professional people with a strong appreciation of what it means to set
up and develop a social enterprise.
A
£25 returnable deposit cheque is required in advance and will be
returned if 48 hours notice of cancellation is given. Spaces are
limited on a first-come first-served basis.
