City Recognition for Social Enterprise Strategy developed by BCP
26th September 2008
- The Social Enterprise Strategy developed for the City by BCP has been endorsed by Brighton and Hove City Council and therefore becomes an official strategy for the city.
- This puts Brighton and Hove at the forefront of supporting and developing social enterprise as a resource for people, profit and planet.
- The strategy proposes a partnership approach to supporting social enterprise through a membership network of social enterprises, private businesses, public sector organisations and other 3rd sector partners.
- BCP will now work with the social enterprise steering group (involving Business Link, the Economic Partnership, the University of Brighton, Care Co-ops, SE2 and 7Creative) to finalise the action plan and implement the strategy.
- Social enterprises interested in joining the local network of social enterprises should contact Emma Mongan at BCP or call 01273 770075.
- Brighton and Hove City Council has applied to the Urbact programme to join the European-wide Network of Social Enterprises.
- The strategy will be launched on social enterprise day (the 20th November) as part of a tour of local social enterprises being arranged by BCP. Participants will be taken to three local enterprises by The Big Lemon Bus Company, itself a social enterprise.
