Organisation Tsar nails down collaboration
by Oliver Maxwell, on 26th September 2006
BCP's September meeting for businesses offering free specialist advice
to the community and voluntary sector put their heads together to get
organised with the help of Susanne Barthelmes from All Sorted! Consulting.
Participants at the meeting looked at ways to organise collaborations
more effectively for community organisations and social enterprises, as
well as businesses offering skills.
Susanne, who is a professional organiser said:
"Good communication is for a collaboration partnership like good lube
for an engine – it makes it work smoother, run more efficient and last
longer. Getting your communication well organised can make all the
difference. Think about it, plan it and agree with your collaboration
partner how, when where and what you are going to communicate. Avoid
assumptions, be clear, stay open minded and you'll be on to a winner."
Twenty two people attended the meeting, including 12 businesses and 7
community organisations and social enterprises. At the end of the
meeting, the participants had produced some guidelines for perfect
partnerships to be used by other organisations in the city.
Last year, 23 community organisations were supported by the group, with advice worth over £40,000.
