Eventia & the concrete jungle that was!

200 delegates from top events trade body company Eventia descended upon St. Bartholomew's Primary school last week in order to paint and hopefully transform their school playground.  St. Bartholomew's embraces diversity and cultural integration, educating children from a huge variety of different backgrounds, who speak up to 24 different languages.  Unfortunately it is also the 3rd most deprived school in the city, lacking any grassy play areas and providing only concrete for the children to run and play on.

In many ways the scale of this project made it even more of a challenge; however two hours and 66 litres of paint later, the 200 Eventia volunteers had successfully transformed the previously bland playground and laid the basis for what we hope will be a long term ongoing project.

Amanda Healey the Head has shared "The playground looks great, so much lighter and brighter, and more inviting for the children.  We are absolutely delighted with the results."  The children have said such things as "Thank you very much – it was old and now it is new," and, "Before it was grey and boring, but now it looks really nice."

Even the first coat of white has made a fantastic difference to the vast amounts of concrete, and the event not only greatly improved the play environment for the children at St. Bartholomew's, but also created a worthwhile team building experience for the Eventia delegates.  This event proved to be a successful and enjoyable project day for all involved!

This project was part of a new partnership with VisitBrighton.
