ems Volunteer Day at The Springboard Project
Eleven employees of Horsham-based workplace health, safety and environmental consultancy, ems, spent a day painting and renovating the play area of a local charity, The Springboard Project. The staff at ems wanted to give some of their time benefiting the local community, so with guidance from BCP and donations of materials from Brewers, a team spent the day brightening up a football area and office.
The Springboard Project is a popular children's centre situated just down the road from ems. It provides facilities and support for children and their families, and was the ideal place for ems staff to undertake their first ever volunteer day. The task set was to smarten up an outdoors football area by painting a colourful mural on the surrounding wall. The main office inside the building was also in need of a coat of paint (although 'Primrose' sufficed in here!) By the end of the day both areas looked a hundred times better, and even the playhouse managed to get a quick coat. The ems staff left proud, happy, and slightly dazed by their surprisingly good artistic ability!
Amy Wilson of ems and coordinator for the project said "The day gave ems staff from different departments the opportunity to work together to give something to this worthy charity. It was a great day and the sense of achievement at the result was fantastic".
Nigel Scott-Dickeson, Project Manager of Springboard said: "The Jubilee Leisure Garden Football Area was completed in 2002 and was needing a coat of paint and general tidy up. The ems team worked their magic and the area has a themed design and full of bright colours."
